The X-Files' John Neville Dies at 86

John Neville, best remembered by TV fans as The Well-Manicured Man in The X-Files, has died, Canadian Press reports. He was 86.

Neville, who had battled Alzheimer's and died Saturday in Toronto, guest-starred on the Fox TV series and in the feature film between 1995 and '98. Before his on-screen career — which took off after he filled the title role in Terry Gilliam's 1989 film The Adventures of Baron Munchausen — the English-born actor was the artistic director of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in the 1980s.

He also did stints as artistic director for Edmonton's Citadel Theatre and of Halifax's Neptune Theatre. He was also an accomplished theater actor throughout Canada, where he emigrated in 1972.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Caroline, as well as six children and six grandchildren.
