Wesley Snipes

Wesley Snipes has asked a judge to extend his bail as he prepares for a possible appeal of his three-year prison sentence for a tax conviction, The Orlando Sentinel reports.

In a motion filed Tuesday, the actor's attorneys requested a judge continue the bail to allow them time to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Wesley Snipes ordered to surrender to start prison term

A federal judge ordered Snipes last week to surrender to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to start his sentence, but a surrender date was never set.

Snipes was convicted in April 2008 in Ocala, Fla., on three misdemeanor charges of failing to file his income tax returns from 1991 to 2001. He has been free on bond while appealing.
