Watercooler: The Voice's In-Your-Face Moment

Tony Lucca

Oh snap, Tony Lucca. That was just perfect.

After taking a jab last week for scoring some Twitter support from his Mickey Mouse Club pal Justin Timberlake by fellow Mouse House vet Christina Aguilera, The Voice's handsome troubadour wannabe took the quarter-finals stage last night and did what any self-respecting artist would do: He covered another famed MMC alum, Britney Spears.

"Oh my God, I love you," uttered coach Adam Levine of his mentee's cajones and we could not agree more. Not just for daring to do "Hit Me Baby One More Time" as a rocked-out number with a gyrating gospel choir in the background, but for having the guts to throw a little shade Xtina's way without seeming like a d-bag. Sure she has a sweet gig, but is it a $15 million one, like Miss Spears' rumored X Factor payday?

Of course, Christina being sassy to the extreme, she had to go and be all "I say we just get Britney out here and have a full-on reunion" and then tried to rile up Adam with her "Team CeeLo is where it's at tonight" praise. But even those gritted-teeth barbs failed to hit their mark as sharply as Lucca's musical dig. Even if he doesn't win the whole show, the guy totally walked away with this battle round.

What did you think of Tony's take-that to Christina? Looking forward to more back-and-forths between Mickey's kids? Or should they bury the hatchet and focus on the music?
