Michael Jackson

Watch the live stream of the Michael Jackson memorial on TVGuide.com, including updates from our correspondent inside the Staples Center. The stream begins at 12:55 pm/ET.

The Jackson family has confirmed a preliminary list of participants for the memorial service that includes Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Berry Gordy, Jennifer Hudson, Magic Johnson, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Brooke Shields, Usher, and Stevie Wonder. People is reporting that Beyonce Knowles and Whitney Houston will also appear, but will not perform. The family statement indicated that the list was subject to change, but that no further information would be available in advance of the service.

Despite the bold-faced names on the guest list, organizers have emphasized that the memorial will be a somber, respectful affair, not an entertainment event. The AP is reporting that Jackson's body will be present.

One Jackson intimate who will not be in attendance is Elizabeth Taylor, who tweeted her regrets yesterday: "I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others," Taylor said. "How I feel is between us. Not a public event."

Eleven thousand fans were selected by an online lottery to be inside the Staples Center; an additional 6,500 are watching a simulcast from the neighboring Nokia Theater. There will be no funeral procession or outdoor viewing, and officials have encouraged people to watch from home.
