VIDEO: Wanda Sykes Gets Grief for Rush Limbaugh Joke

Wanda Sykes

New Adventures of Old Christine star Wanda Sykes let loose at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday night — but did saying that she wished that Rush Limbaugh's kidneys would fail cross a line?

"Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails," Sykes said during her routine. "So you're saying, 'I hope America fails.' You're like, 'I don't care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq.' He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason. He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight."

Sykes also added: "Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails; I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs."

Fellow comedian and The View co-host Joy Behar feels that whole situation can be described as tit-for-tat. "People are going after her because she went over the line with Rush Limbaugh — um, hello? Rush Limbaugh goes over the line on a regular basis," Behar told TVGuide.com.

Behar also noted how the comedians who perform at this event often find themselves under fire. "Every time they do [the Correspondent's Dinner] the comedian gets into trouble. It's a thankless job," said Behar.
