Chad Coleman has joined the cast of The Walking Dead in the pivotal comic book role of Tyrese, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Following Shane's death, Tyrese became Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) right-hand man in the comics, and also went on to have relationships with Carol (Melissa McBride) and Micheonne (Danai Gurira). So it sounds like Daryl (Norman Reedus) will have some competition on both fronts.
Coleman, who's best known for playing Cutty on The Wire, will make his first appearance in the eighth episode of Season 3.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
