AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a second season, the network announced Monday.
The order for a 13-episode second season comes after just two episodes of the first season have aired. The Halloween-night series premiere scored 5.3 million viewers, the largest audience for any original series telecast on AMC. Sunday's second episode brought in 4.7 million viewers.
Walking Dead scares up 5.3 million viewers
"The Dead has spread!" AMC President Charlie Collier said in a statement. "No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-to-49 as The Walking Dead. This reaffirms viewers' hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back The Dead again, across the globe."
The Walking Dead: A zombie show with more heart than brains
