Is The Voice Moving to the Fall?

The Voice, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton

All four coaches on The Voice have signed on for Season 3, which will air in the fall for the first time, The Wrap reports. The singing competition has only previously aired in the winter or midseason.

Following the lead of Christina Aguilera, who signed on for the new season last week for a reported $10 million, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green have all agreed to return. The four coaches have arranged their schedules for a fall debut, which NBC plans to announce soon, according to the site. The competition series has been hosting open auditions since earlier this year and, according to insiders, will begin advertising them on next week's episode.

Levine, Shelton and Green will each receive $6 million for the new season, according to The Wrap. NBC said that no decisions had been made regarding the judges or the scheduling.

It is unclear whether The Voice will only air in the fall, or if NBC plans to run the singing competition twice a season. So You Think You Can Dance tried to run back-to-back seasons in the summer and fall of 2009, but ratings in the fall were weak and the series has only aired in the summer since then.

The Voice's second season debuted immediately after the Super Bowl to a record 37.61 million viewers and a 16.3 rating in the adults ages 18-49 demographic. Monday's new episode nabbed 16.28 million total viewers and a 6.0 rating.

NBC could use The Voice to launch a new fall show — as it did this year with the new midseason series Smash. The Voice would also go up against Fox's weaker of its two singing competitions — The X Factor — if it airs in the fall instead of midseason.

Do you want The Voice to come back for Season 3 in the fall? Or do you think it will be too soon?
