Davis' The Help co-star, Octavia Spencer, also shared that Davis became a mother "like, two days ago" in her speech honoring the star.
In August, Davis, 46, said at the premiere of The Help that she and her husband of eight years, Julius Tennon, were about to adopt a baby domestically.
This is the first child for the couple. Tennon has two children from previous relationships.
