The Veronica Mars movie has an official release date: March 14.

According to Entertainment Weekly, which broke the news, creator Rob Thomas was hoping to debut the film exactly a year after launching the movie's Kickstarter campaign, which garnered $2 million in just the first day.

"Warner Bros. had this date circled for quite some time and hoped it would stay open," Thomas told EW. "Luckily, no other teen detective movie decided to open in the middle of March."

The film, titled Veronica Mars, will find Veronica (Kristin Bell) returning to Neptune 10 years after graduation in order to help ex-boyfriend Logan (Jason Dohring), who's been accused of killing his girlfriend. Other returning cast members include Enrico ColantoniPercy Daggs IIIChris LowellFrancis CapraTina MajorinoAmanda NoretSam Huntington,Max Greenfield and Daran Norris. The movie, which amassed $5.7 million in funding from the campaign, shot in 23 days.
