Season 2 of Vampire Diaries introduced the fact that the Lockwoods suffer a werewolf curse. Jeremy, who once wanted to be a vampire, but wasn't able to turn, forges a unique friendship with his one-time enemy, Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino). McQueen explains that although the vampires have trumps on Jeremy (like being able to save or kill him), getting close to Tyler is the one thing he can hold over them.
