Vampire Diaries Video: Tough Times Ahead for Caroline and Tyler?

Michael Trevino and Candice Accola

How will The Vampire Diaries' Caroline react when she learns that Tyler isn't really dead, but Klaus has taken over his body? Not very well.

"She does figure out Klaus has played the switcheroo gag on her and she's not happy," Candice Accola told TVGuide.com of her character during our recent visit to the set. "But the bright side is Tyler's not gone ... her love isn't gone."

But don't get too excited, Forwood fans: The couple's journey won't be all rainbows and butterflies — especially when Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), a girl who helped Tyler (Michael Trevino) rid his sire bond to Klaus (Joseph Morgan), comes strolling into town.

"They have to face up to reality [and] it's not going to be easy and it's not going to be pretty," Accola said.

One moment fans can look forward too? Plenty of sexy time between the blonde vamp and the hot hybrid. "That was one way to just kill the excitement of summer vacation," Accola joked.

Watch the interview below for more from Accola on Caroline and Tyler's future and how her admirer Klaus fits into the picture.  The Vampire Diaries returns on Thursday at 8/7c on The CW.
