Elaine Stritch has always been known to tell it like it is, but that trait got the veteran actress in some hot water on the Today show Tuesday.
Stritch, 89, dropped the F-bomb when she appeared on the NBC morning show's fourth hour to promote her documentary, Shoot Me. The exchange began when host Kathie Lee Gifford commented on Stritch's reputation for being blunt. "You are so beloved — of course for your work, but as much for your mouth," Gifford said. "You say whatever you want to say."

The 30 Rock actress replied, "If you just say things naturally, it's fine. You know, they just think in f---." A visibly shocked Gifford exclaimed, "Oh, dear!" and she and co-host Hoda Kotb attempted to move on quickly. Although censors didn't catch the bad word the first time, it was edited out of video posted on Today's website and for other time zones.
