Up All Night Adds Sean Hayes, Drops the Ava Show

There are some big changes coming to NBC's Up All Night.

As it heads into its second season, the series is undergoing a major makeover and dropping Ava, the show-within-a-show hosted by Maya Rudolph's character. In moving away from Reagan's workplace, Up All Night will begin to focus more on "smaller, lower-key home stories," according to The Huffington Post.

But don't fear, Ava isn't going anywhere — and she's getting a new friend! Sean Hayes has booked a multi-episode arc as Ava's former accompanist.

Fans of the series will remember Ava once had a bustling music career with hits such as "Back It Up (Beep Beep)" and "Basically." The addition of Hayes' character from her chart-topping past will hopefully mean Ava has a bit of a music career revival.

Up All Night premieres Thursday, Sept. 20 and 8:30/7:30c on NBC.
