Carrie Underwood has been tapped to perform the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIV, the NFL and CBS announced Thursday.

The country music superstar joins Queen Latifah, who will sing "America the Beautiful," and halftime headliners The Who. Underwood is the third American Idol alum to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in three years, following winner Jordin Sparks in 2008 and finalist Jennifer Hudson last year.
CBS will broadcast the 2010 Super Bowl live from Miami when the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints face off on Feb. 7.
