Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss may have something a little more sinister than Don Draper to deal with next year. The Emmy nominee is a front-runner for one of television's most coveted roles: the female lead in Season 2 of HBO's True Detective, TheWrap reports.
Moss would play Ani Bezzerides, a sheriff from Monterey, Calif., who has a history of alcohol and gambling addictions after a difficult upbringing. The role shouldn't be much of a stretch for Moss, who won a Golden Globe for playing a small-town cop on Top of the Lake. Mad Men wrapped production at the end of June and the final seven episodes are set to air next year on AMC.

Battlestar Galactica and The Killing vet Michelle Forbes is also reportedly in talks for a role. She would either play the wife of rumored addition Vince Vaughn's character or the ex-wife of the character of another rumored star, Colin Farrell.
Reports of Vaughn's casting began circling Monday. Farrell and Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch are allegedly still in discussions to portray the two male leads.
