Trace Adkins Looks Ahead to Hosting Fox's American Country Awards

If last night's Country Music Association Awards are the esteemed Oscars of the genre, then Fox's fledgling American Country Awards, set for Dec. 5, are vying to be the unpredictable Golden Globes. Once again hosted by Trace Adkins, the ACAs put the winners in the hands of the fans. This week in Nashville, however, Adkins himself was responsible for bestowing a different type of honor: selecting the winner of a jingle-writing contest for Waggin' Train dog treats. "The contest was designed to celebrate the special relationships people have with their dogs. Your dog really does become a member of your family," says the onetime Celebrity Apprentice finalist, who's looking forward to sharing hosting duties at this year's ACAs with singer-actress Kristin Chenoweth. "Last year was a lot of fun," says Adkins, explaining his simple reason for returning. "And this year they threw in a cute blonde girl, so I thought, why not?"
