Was Tony Scott Suffering From Brain Cancer?

Tony Scott

The day after his sudden death, those close to Top Gun director Tony Scott are still trying to figure out what caused him to jump off of the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, Calif.

Although ABC News reported early Monday that Scott, 68, had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer TMZ reports that Scott's wife told investigators this story is "absolutely false."

Top Gun director Tony Scott dead at 68 of apparent suicide

Autopsy reports for Scott have been deferred pending more tests, but sources tell TMZ there is no evidence of brain cancer. According to the site, Scott's wife also told authorities her husband did not have any other severe medical ailment that would have pushed him to commit suicide.

Scott reportedly left contact information for close family and friends in his car and also left behind a suicide note in his office, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Scott is survived by his wife, Donna, and their twin sons, Frank and Max.
