Mold, rot and carbon dioxide can ruin a house, but a community can rebuild it, along with the traveling crew from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Grey's Anatomy hot doc Patrick Dempsey is one of the volunteers, joined by a surprise celeb and members of a Manchester, N.H., family who had their house rebuilt on the show in 2007. — Paul Droesch

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert
8/7c HBO
At 25, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is considerably younger than the talent gathered to celebrate its silver jubilee — though it will match much of the hair color! Recorded over two nights in October at New York City's Madison Square Garden, this four-hour presentation includes performances from the biggest names in music, including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band; Aretha Franklin; Stevie Wonder; Crosby, Stills and Nash; and U2. — Joe Friedrich

A Dog Named Christmas
9/8c CBS
Families looking for a heartwarming yarn this holiday weekend will be rewarded by this latest addition to the Hallmark Hall of Fame canon. Noel Fisher stars as Todd McCray, a developmentally challenged young man who learns about a local animal shelter's adopt-a-dog program for the holidays and attempts to get families in his Kansas town to participate. Sounds great, right? Unfortunately, his overprotective dad (Bruce Greenwood) isn't thrilled with the idea of having a dog around, due to some painful past experiences. But who can resist man's best friend? — Tim Holland

Dexter
9/8c Showtime
In a chilling encounter amid the games of chance at a local carnival, Dexter rues that he had his "chance to eliminate Arthur" and let it slip away. As he stalks the homicidal psycho, Dexter realizes that, despite being "finished with his last kill cycle," Arthur is not only planning to murder again but he's already eyeballed his next victim. At home, Cody knows that his stepfather has been caught in a lie, yet the youngster feels the need to protect and defend him. — Ray Stackhouse

Brothers & Sisters
10:01/9:01c ABC
For much of this season, the main crisis for the Walker family was dealing with the revelation and treatment of Kitty's cancer. But now — with Rebecca's secret pregnancy; Holly's award-winning wine down the drain; Sarah's suspicions of her mother's new boyfriend (while reeling from her breakup with Luc); and Justin's ongoing battle to stay sober — the drama quotient has been amped up considerably. Overseeing action in this episode is Matthew Rhys, who makes his directorial debut in addition to playing Kevin Walker. — Joe Friedrich
