The O'Jays are this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipients, and Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean receive the Humanitarian Award. The night, of course, is chock-full of music performances, including the highly anticipated return of Maxwell, who has emerged from a lengthy stay out of the spotlight. Thomas Jane stars as Ray Drecker, a onetime BMOC who loses his wife (Anne Heche) to a wealthier man and watches his teenage twins bolt to their mother after a fire destroys his house outside Detroit.
