Kiefer Sutherland, 24

24
8 pm/ET Fox
After taking an unscheduled year off because of the writers' strike, Jack Bauer is back for another suspense-filled day. As Season 7 opens, Jack is on trial before a Senate subcommittee, and old friend Tony Almeida makes a surprising return. Unfortunately, Tony doesn't appear to be on the right side of the law as he's involved in a national-security breach. That leaves new president Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) on the hot seat with no CTU since it's been disbanded. Janeane Garofalo joins the cast as FBI agent Janis Gold. — Fred Mitchell

While Kevin recuperated last week, Kitty flirted with the position she once had as the senator's communications director, but tonight she's back in full-time author mode when she hawks the book about her husband's failed presidential campaign on Live With Regis and Kelly (who appear as themselves). And if you wondered where Holly was, you might be seeing even less of her — at least at Ojai — if Tommy and Saul have anything to say about it. — Joe Friedrich

Ladies, have you ever had a boyfriend who lied, cheated and generally treated you badly? In this new reality series, nine women get to send their "tool" boyfriends to Tool Academy, a sort of relationship boot camp, to be retrained. Counselor Trina Dolenz puts the guys through lessons in honesty, fidelity, maturity and communication, and each week she eliminates one of the guys. The last guy left wins $100,000. — Fred Mitchell
