Top Moments From President Barack Obama's Visit to The Tonight Show

Barack Obama, Jay Leno

Before saying goodbye to Hollywood and heading to San Francisco, President Barack Obama swung by The Tonight Show Tuesday for his fourth appearance as Commander in Chief. Obama opened up about everything from recent headlines, including Moammar Gadhafi's death, to Halloween at the White House. Check out the highlights:

1. On the death of Gadhafi: Obama had previously called Gadhafi's death a "momentous day in the history of Libya." He told Jay Leno that while you never want to see anyone meet that end, "it obviously sends a strong message around the world to dictators that people long to be free, and they need to respect the human rights and the universal aspirations of people."

2. On the GOP opposing the withdrawal from Iraq: On Friday, the President announced the complete withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. GOP candidate Mitt Romney called Obama's decision "an astonishing failure." "It's shocking that they opposed something I proposed," Obama said with a chuckle.

3. On the GOP debates: Obama compared the GOP debates to Survivor, noting that he hasn't been keeping up. "I'm going to wait until everybody is voted off the island," he said. "Once they narrow it down to one or two, I'll start paying attention."

4. On Halloween at the White House: Obama poked fun at wife Michelle, who in years past has handed out fruit and raisins to trick-or-treaters. "I said, 'The White House is going to get egged if this keeps up. You need to throw some candy in there!'"

President Obama's appearance on The Tonight Show airs Tuesday at 11:35/10:35c on NBC.
