Tom Cavanagh with Zach Braff, Scrubs

Before Scrubs signs off for good, fans can count on one final appearance by J.D.'s ne'er-do-well brother, Dan.

"I would say the chances are 100 percent," Tom Cavanagh confirmed during a TVGuide.com Q&A to promote his new TNT series, Trust Me. "If I was a betting man, I would put money on it — though I'm sure Vegas isn't taking bets on that." Still, it's a sound wager, seeing as the encore-filled episode (Amy Smart and Nicole Sullivan are said to also reprise their past roles) was filmed in early September.

Having fronted a successful comedy of his own, NBC's Ed, Cavanagh appreciated being afforded the invitation to Scrubs back in for a seventh time. "That show is a blast to shoot," he raves. "Not only are they great people, but they're incredibly talented and without egos."

After airing for seven seasons on an often-thankless NBC, Scrubs will air its final batch of 18 episodes on ABC, starting Tuesday, Jan. 6.

In Trust Me, Cavanagh plays the art director counterpart to Eric McCormack's copywriter. The dramedy premieres Jan. 26, on TNT.
