Mother of All Talent

Who knows child stars better than two child talent agents?

Mother of All Talent stars Nikki Galarza and Lorrie Tierney (who also happen to be mother and daughter) share their unique perspectives with TVGuide.comabout some of our favorite child stars — where they succeeded, where they went wrong and on the parents pulling the strings.

MILEY CYRUS

On what set Miley apart: "She's a great singer. I think she had the It factor from very early on. I know her father [Billy Ray Cyrus] definitely helped direct her career, but she was super-successful as Hannah Montana," Tierney says.

On Miley's image revamp: "I think she had that young fan base and now they're growing up with her, so she's continuing her success," Tierney says. "And you know what, that whole twerking thing, it is what it is. I don't think it was such a big deal." However, Galarza disagrees. "I don't know. I don't think it was necessary for her to do that. She's successful anyways."

On what Miley should do next: "I would like to see her in a film playing maybe a racy character," Tierney suggests.

HONEY BOO BOO

On what set Honey Boo Boo apart: "One thing in her favor, her mother ... is good. She puts her money aside for her. She's doing the right thing about that. As far for the child herself, she was cutesy on [Toddlers & Tiaras], but now I think she's getting to a different level," Galarza says.

MARY-KATE AND ASHLEY OLSEN

On what set the Olsen twins apart: "A child actor cannot be anything without a stage parent and it's where the stage parent takes it," Tierney explains. "They were just cute early on, but I think their dad knew what he was doing and knew how to promote them."

On whether the Olsen twins could still be successful actors: "They still have a huge fan base," Galarza says. "To be honest, if they were in something, I would be curious to see what they were doing," Tierney adds.

BRITNEY SPEARS

On where Britney's career went wrong: "Thinking about how she was raised and where she came from, I do think that you need to be well rounded as a person. And sometimes these stage parents just focus on these children's careers and nothing else," Tierney says. "You need to have an education. You need that. Maybe you need to find other areas that the child likes to do. You can't just be completely obsessed with having your child be the next big thing."

On whether Britney should try acting again: "I was a fan [of Crossroads]. I mean, it was okay. It was just okay," Tierney says. "I think she should stick to what she's good at."

AMANDA BYNES

On what set Amanda apart: "She reminded me of a young Carol Burnett," Tierney says. "She's great with improv. She's a great child actor." Though her mother contends, "I don't know about that. I was not a big fan of her."

On where her career went wrong: "I think these child stars are there one moment and they have to realize they may not be there tomorrow. So they need to have a strong ego and a strong psyche. And they need to be secure at home first," Tierney says.

On whether Amanda could return to acting: "I think she could bounce back. Anyone could bounce back," Galarza says.

LINDSAY LOHAN

On where Lindsay's career went wrong: "I think she's really, extremely talented. I think her mother kind of screwed her up," Galarza says, calling Dina"the epitome of a bad stage mom.

On what Lindsay should do next: "She needs to get herself together. She really does, because they will take her back. I mean they did take her back on certain sets. She was late all the time, she was not herself. You can't do that. You have to act appropriately, act responsible," Galarza says. "As long as she's sober, she can do it."

Mother of All Talent airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on TVGN.
