TNT has ordered a 15-episode sophomore season of its original series Major Crimes, the network announced Thursday
"Week after week, Major Crimes has drawn millions of fans with its combination of sharp writing and engaging characters brought to life by what can only be described as one of the best acting ensembles on television," Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TNT, said in a statement. "We look forward to another season of this remarkable new drama."

When The Closer spin-off, which stars Mary McDonnell, debuted earlier this summer, it quickly became cable's top new series. Major Crimes' first season will wrap up in mid-October, with the second season premiering summer 2013.
Major Crimes airs Mondays at 9/8c on TNT.
