Kate Plus 8

Everyone who hates Kate can feel great. TLC has canceled Kate Plus 8, which continued the adventures of mother Kate Gosselin and her brood of eight kids minus ex-husband Jon.

The network issued a statement to People on Monday that it would not renew the show for another season, adding: "By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150-episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future."

To some, the move is not unexpected as TLC made no mention of the reality show when it unveiled its fall shows. Last week, Today's Ann Curry asked Kate Gosselin about the show's rumored demise, and while Gosselin, 36, didn't directly respond, she said she could see the show extending into her kids' high school years.

The series that premiered May 14, 2006, as Jon & Kate Plus 8 chronicled the challenges of a young couple raising twins and sextuplets, but by the end of 2009 it transformed into a sad and ugly account about their breakup — leaving fans alienated from both.

Kate Plus 8, which returned for its second — and now, final — season last week, airs Mondays at 9/8c on TLC.
