Syfy has renewed Alphas for a 13-episode second season.
The series, which stars David Strathairn, follows a team of superhuman investigators with extraordinary physical abilities. July's debut was Syfy's most-watched series premiere in two years.

"Alphas' smart, innovative approach to a superhero franchise has clearly caught on with our audience," Mark Stern, Syfy president of original content, said Wednesday in announcing the renewal.
Currently airing its freshman season, the series has nabbed notable guest stars including Summer Glau, Garret Dillahunt, Lindsay Wagner, Rebecca Mader, Brent Spiner and John Pyper Ferguson.
