Superman to Face Off Against Batman in Man of Steel Sequel
It's a great day to be a DC fan. Warner Bros. announced at Comic-Con Saturday that Superman will face off against Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Deadline reports.
Man of Steel director Zack Synder made a surprise appearance during the Warner Bros-Legendary Pictures panel, announcing: "It's official that we are going to make another Superman movie. I've poured through the DC universe for a way to tell this thing."

On cue, Harry Lennix, who plays General Swanwick in Man of Steel, began quoting from The Dark Knight Returns, which features Batman tricking Superman with Kryptonite and faking his own death. "In all the years to come, in all the most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you," Lennix said.
But don't expect a straight re-telling of a Frank Miller graphic novel. Snyder said the sequel, due out in 2015, will not adapt the comic, but that it will help inspire the story.
Although Henry Cavill will be donning his cape once more, Christian Bale has already said he has no desire to reprise his role as Batman. "I'm so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can't wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter," Snyder said. "Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world."
