Poll: Stephen Colbert Tops South Carolina Voters' Wish List for Senate Seat

Colbert 2014?

That's what voters in Stephen Colbert's native South Carolina are hoping for. In a new poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, 20 percent of residents polled say they want The Colbert Report host to fill the seat being vacated by Senator Jim DeMint, who announced he was leaving his post in early 2013 to become president of The Heritage Foundation.  A replacement senator will be appointed by Governor Nikki Haley, until an election can be held in 2014.

Last week on his Comedy Central show, Colbert asked viewers to tweet at the Governor — a "friend of the show" according to Colbert — and lobby her to appoint him to DeMint's seat.
