Stephen Baldwin Arrested on Tax Evasion Charges

Stephen Baldwin

Stephen Baldwin was arrested Thursday for allegedly failing to pay state income tax over the last three years, according to the New York Daily News.

Baldwin, brother of Alec, Billy and Daniel Baldwin, reportedly owes more than $350,000 in back taxes and could face up to four years in prison if convicted on the felony charge.

Stephen Baldwin arrested in New York City

"At a time when Rockland County and New York State face severe fiscal shortfalls, we cannot afford to allow wealthy residents to break the law by cheating on their taxes," said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe. "The defendant's repetitive failure to file returns and pay taxes over a period of several years contributes to the sweeping cutbacks and closures in local government and in our schools."

The Usual Suspects star was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He's due back in court on Feb. 5.
