South Park has more lives than even Kenny. It's already the longest-running cable animated series, and Entertainment Weekly reports that the ever-fresh cartoon show has been signed through 2013, which will bring its run up to 17 seasons.

In related news, South Park will return to Comedy Central  for the second half of its 15th season on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 10/9c. From there, seven new episodes will air.

South Park producers being sued for copyright infringement

Though there have been rumblings of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Comedy Central departure, especially in light of their Broadway hit The Book of Mormon, which won nine Tonys including Best Musical last month, these would seem to be greatly exaggerated.

South Park first hit the air in August 1997.
