Showtime Adapting Comic Book The Damned

Damned

In a TV generation where vampires, werewolves and zombies run rampant, why not throw in demons, too?

Showtime is adapting Cullen Bunn's comic book The Damned as a one-hour drama, Deadline.com reports. Originally set in Prohibition-era Chicago, Showtime's take will have a more modern feel, though the show's protagonist, Eddie, a man who rises from the dead, will still go toe-to-toe with demonic mob bosses.

Showtime green-lights three new projects

The series will be written by David Hayter (X-Men), with Warren Littlefield, Eric Gitter, Joe Nozemack and Andy Bourne also set to produce.

The news comes on the heels of Showtime green-lighting three pilots on Monday, the docu-comedy Gurland On Gurland, the book adaptation Masters of Sex and a drama from Southland creator Ann Biderman.
