"I want a beer pong table at my wedding," Sara Rue tells TVGuide.com, admitting that she gleaned ideas for her own upcoming nuptials from the contestants on Shedding for the Wedding.
"I'd tell them, 'I'm stealing that,'" says the host of CW's newest reality competition show debuting Wednesday at 9/8c. "I wasn't in the full wedding planning process when we were shooting, so it was really fun for me to watch them and say, 'Oh I like that dress' or 'Those invitations are pretty' and clock them [in] my mind."

As a spokesperson for Jenny Craig, Rue identifies with the nine couples' weight loss journey, in which they compete in exercise challenges that double as chances to win elements -- ranging from the wedding gown to the menu -- of their dream wedding. A nutritionist, two trainers and a wedding planner help them through the grueling and emotional process.
"The challenges have a wedding element to all of them," Rue explains. "So they might be hanging onto a giant ring in a swing hundreds of feet up in the air using only their arm strength to win their wedding bands. Some of the challenges are even old-fashioned wedding themes. There was a log-sawing contest that's apparently a German tradition."
Shedding for the Wedding producer: "I despise Bridalplasty"
The would-be grooms were just as passionate about winning the competitions as their fiancés. "It was very sweet because a lot of them were very invested on behalf of their bride-to-be, but I think it went both ways," says Rue. "When we were competing for them to win a chef for their wedding, one lady got very upset about that one because she wanted her fiancé to have what he wanted. It was very sweet."
Each of the teams are known by handy nicknames such as the Gamer Couple or Big Band Couple to indicate their desired wedding theme. "There were couples whose themes were closer to my heart, like the eco-lover theme," she says. "We're hopefully trying to be all a little more green or conservative in how we use our resources, so I appreciated that they were very selfless about the products they wanted to use on their special day."

As for the Greek Week Couple, Lindsay and Chase, Rue has a few words of advice for their beer pong table idea.
"My fiancé and I play with paddles, we don't throw the ball," says Rue. "I told Lindsay and Chase that I thought that was cheating."
