Michele Bundy filed a temporary restraining order against Sharpe last week, claiming she was "forced to have sex with him," according to documents obtained by the AP. The petition also claims that Sharpe calls Bundy repeatedly and threatens her life.

"I have decided to step aside from the NFL Today until this matter is resolved," Sharpe, 42, said in a statement.

CBS Sports also issued a statement, saying, "We accept Shannon's decision and decline to comment further on a pending legal matter."

Sharpe, a former tight end for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens who is under consideration for the Hall of Fame, has not been arrested or charged with a crime as of Wednesday.
