The search for the next Oscars host starts ... now!
Seth MacFarlane, who hosted this year's ceremony, tweeted on Monday that he will not be returning for a second shot next year.
Oscars 2013: Top Moments
"Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as [producers Craig] Zadan and [Neil] Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix," he wrote.
After it was announced in April that executive producers Zadan and Meron would be producing the show again, reports surfaced that they wanted MacFarlane to host a second time. This isn't the first time that MacFarlane has turned down the job either. Two days after the Feb. 24 ceremony when he asked if he would do it again, MacFarlane tweeted "no way."
Red carpet arrivals from the 2013 Oscars
MacFarlane, 39, received mixed reviews for his turn as Oscars host.
MacFarlane has a very crowded 2014 ahead of him. In addition to his duties on Family Guy and American Dad!, MacFarlane is also executive-producing the new Fox sitcom, Dads and producing a 13-episode reboot of Carl Sagan's popular documentary Cosmos to air next year on Fox.
