Shelley Hennig

Who is John Blackwell's other child in The Secret Circle's coven?

While both audiences and cast wait with bated breath to find out, Circle's Shelley Hennig thinks the idea of good-girl Diana turning out to be the other Balcoin child would finally explain Diana's mysterious connection to Cassie (Britt Robertson). TVGuide.com pumped Hennig for scoop on who the other Balcoin child could be, as well as the arrival of Cassie's seemingly evil father, John Blackwell (Joe Lando). Plus: Sorry, Adam (Thomas Dekker), but Diana's getting a new love interest!

Exclusive: The Secret Circle casts Cassie's mysterious father John Blackwell

We got a glimpse of the tragedy from 16 years ago in last week's episode, but it's still unclear what happened to most of the circles' parents. Will we get more insight into that?
Shelley Hennig:
What I love is that we were all hoping to know what happened 16 years ago and they do a flashback, yet now I have 10 more questions about what happened.  We learn a little more each episode. The circle is pretty savvy, so I think they're going to do whatever they can to figure that out. That's been their mission since Episode 1.

Because the circle is on the outs, how will they react when Cassie's father, John Blackwell, comes into the picture?
Hennig:
The whole circle is trying to figure out what Blackwell's intentions are, and it will be interesting to see how each person in the circle reacts to it. Diana's actually the one who's looking at it like, "Oh my God, you've got your dad back! We've all wished we could have our dead parents back, and here you are." Diana's really intrigued with him being back, but also on guard, just like the rest of us are.

Will Cassie ever take her dark magic too far?
Hennig:
Hasn't she gotten us in enough trouble? Goodness! [Laughs] I'm sure with finding out more information about dark magic, Blackwell and the witch hunters, things are still going to be taken too far. It's kind of what you have to do in order to find out more information.

The Secret Circle: Jake is back! Will the other Balcoin child be revealed?

Who do you think is the other Balcoin child?
Hennig:
I think it'd be awesome [if Diana is] and I think it would explain the connection that Diana has with Cassie, and why she goes to Cassie when she breaks up with Adam. Like, who does that? Who goes to the girl that now has your boyfriend? I think it will be interesting whatever way that they choose.

Have the actors learned who the other Balcoin child is yet?
Hennig:
No. Still in the dark. Not a clue. Audiences sit there waiting to watch each episode air. We're like that with the script. We're like, 'OK, are we going to get answers now?' We're all totally into this, and we talk about it all the time. Everybody has their own ideas, and it's just fun to come up with the way we think it's going to unfold.

Executive producer Andrew Miller mentioned that Diana will have a love interest this season. Could he be the newly cast Australian actor Tim Phillipps?
Hennig:
Yes. [His character is] really handsome, really sweet and hopefully he's going to sweep Diana off her feet, if not long term, at least to help Diana get through this heartbreak with Adam. But who knows, maybe this guy's exactly what Diana needs.

Even though she'll have her own love interest, how will she feel about Adam and Cassie getting closer, especially with Jake (Chris Zylka) also in the picture?
Hennig:
Diana's never going to forget. Let's face it: Adam's the only boyfriend she's ever had. It's going to be hard for Adam and Diana. Adam has a distraction, so it's a little easier for him, but he even knows how special Diana and Adam's relationship was. She's putting on a hard exterior so that Adam can move on, but how long can she do that? That's what you'll discover in the next episode that airs.

Exclusive: The Secret Circle lands two new bad boys

Will Diana ever figure out what her dad, Charles (Gale Harold), is up to? He's taken evil to a new level since the show returned.
Hennig:
Yes. This is what I'm trying to figure out. This is all about your bloodline, right?  So is there more Diana in Charles or is there more Charles in Diana? That's what I hope they explore. And obviously, I hope there's more Charles in Diana, because it will be way more interesting.
