Star Trek will meet The Secret Circle in an upcoming episode.

John de Lancie, well known for playing Q in the Star Trek franchise, has been cast as one of the elders, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

The Secret Circle Scoop: Diana's new love, John Blackwell's arrival and the Balcoin child

The 63-year-old actor will play Royce Armstrong, the powerful, yet recluse grandfather of Jake (Chris Zylka). Royce comes out of hiding to reveal disturbing conspiracy theories about the events of 16 years ago and how the present-day circle is involved.

De Lancie — whose credits also include Stargate SG-1, Breaking Bad and Torchwood: Miracle Day — will first appear in Episode 19 of the freshman series, which airs Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.
