SVU's Basic Casting Instinct: Sharon Stone!

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone is joining the cast of NBC's Law & Order: SVU, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

In multiple episodes this spring, the 51-year-old Stone will play an assistant district attorney — one of many to walk the courthouse halls this season, including Christine Lahti and series vet Stephanie March.

Kathy Griffin lands Law & Order: SVU guest spot

Though the Oscar-nominated actress is known mostly for her film work (Casino, Basic Instinct), she has made a few high-profile TV appearances over the years. She won a guest-actress Emmy in 2004 for playing eccentric lawyer Sheila Carlisle on ABC's The Practice, played Ellen DeGeneres' lover in HBO's 2000 miniseries If These Walls Could Talk 2, and memorably skulked around a trailer park on a 1995 episode of Roseanne.

Stone will begin shooting her episodes this month.
