Inspired by former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, MacLachlan, 52, will play a powerful politician whose family is embroiled in a scandal. The episode is currently in production and no airdate has been set.

Law & Order: SVU will welcome two new series regulars, Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino, when it returns for Season 13 this fall.
MacLachlan is best known for his work on Twin Peaks, Sex and the City and, most recently, Desperate Housewives.
Law & Order: SVU premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10/9c on NBC.
