Ryan O'Neal: Tatum Faked Suicide Attempt

Ryan O'Neal

Ryan and Tatum O'Neal apparently still have issues to work through.

Following Sunday night's debut of OWN's series Ryan & Tatum: The O'Neals, Ryan O'Neal has lot to say about estranged daughter Tatum on Piers Morgan Tonight (Monday, 9/8c, CNN).

"Why would she paint herself as an 11-year-old addict?" he asks. "It's so stupid. She made five or six movies [and] she couldn't have if that were the case." O'Neal also wonders whether his long-standing feud with his daughter caused Farrah Fawcett's cancer and questions Tatum's suicide attempt at age 13. "I thought it was faked, to tell you the truth," he says.

A few days ago Tatum also was a guest on Morgan's show and had a much more hopeful attitude toward the pair's relationship.

"I feel ... lucky that I can sit here and be in a good place be able to talk to you and talk to my dad and maybe have him get to know me now, not a junkie, not dead," she said. "Maybe he'll be proud of me and maybe not. Maybe he won't love the Tatum that I am today, but I hope so."
