Rosie O'Donnell Is Coming to America

Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O'Donnell's back on TV — in a movie.

The one-time talk show and The View host has signed on to star and executive produce a made-for-television film for Lifetime, Variety reports.

Based on the E.R. Frank book of the same name, America will revolve around the struggles of a 16-year-old boy, named America, in the foster-care system. O'Donnell will play the teen's therapist.

Oscar nominee Ruby Dee will also star as caretaker.

The project, premiering in February, will be a reunion for O'Donnell, producer Larry Sanitsky and writer Joyce Eliason. The three collaborated on the 2005 TV movie, Riding on the Bus with My Sister.

Yvez Simoneau (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) will direct.
