No joke: Roseanne Barr says she is gunning for the Green Party's presidential nomination,  The Associated Press reports.

"The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants — bought and paid for by the 1 percent — who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people," Barr said.

On Thursday, Barr submitted the paperwork for her candidacy, writing, "I will barnstorm American living rooms. Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election."

The Green Party will determine its presidential nominee during a convention in July.

The actress and comedienne, best known for playing a blue-collar mom on the ABC sitcom Roseanne, recently sold a pilot to NBC. The project, titled Downwardly Mobile, stars Barr as the proprietor of a mobile home park and surrogate mother to all the characters who live there.
