Robin Roberts Exits Good Morning America Early

Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts has left Good Morning America earlier than expected.

After announcing earlier this week that Friday would be her last day before an extended medical leave, Roberts moved up her exit to Thursday.

Good Morning America's Robin Roberts to start medical leave next week

ABC News
reports that following Thursday's show, Roberts will fly home to Mississippi to be with her ailing 88-year-old mother and the rest of her family, who live in an area impacted by Hurricane Isaac.

Roberts had originally requested time off to seek treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). She will begin her final preparations for a bone marrow transplant next week as planned. Her sister Sally Ann will act as the donor.
