Exclusive: Animal Planet Wades into Another Season of River Monsters

Animal Planet's River Monsters and host Jeremy Wade have been baited into continuing their search for the river world's most disturbing creatures.
River Monsters, which has quickly turned into one of Animal Planet's signature shows, was just given a fourth season order by the cable network and shooting has begun on seven new episodes that will air in April 2012.
Wade has already taken River Monsters across the globe, but for next season the show plans to remain Stateside. Among the stops: Rivers in Florida, Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Season 4 will open with a two-hour special in which Wade tracks down river creatures spotted by viewers. The host will investigate these claims, including a bullshark in Fort Pierce, Fla.; an alligator in Mount Belvieu, Texas; a catfish in Osage Beach, Mo.; and noodling in Oklahoma. Many of those river monsters are blamed for animal attacks.
River Monsters, which comes from producer Icon Films, just posted some of its highest ratings yet last Sunday. That episode, which followed Wade on a trip to Argentina (where he captures his biggest monster yet), became one of Animal Planet's top three shows ever in the adults 18-49 demographic.
