This isn't the first time the show has been remade for another country. The Office originated in the U.K., where Gervais starred as buffoonish boss David Brent. The U.S. adaptation stars Steve Carell as the regional manager of paper company Dunder Mifflin. The show has also been remade for France, Germany, Québec and Chile.

"I'm worried they will pull out when they see the first episode of An Idiot Abroad though," joked Gervais about the Karl Pilkington animated comedy. "Oh well."
