Rick Springfield Is Returning to General Hospital!

Rick Springfield is checking back into General Hospital, and this time he's bringing someone very special with him — his son!
The "Jessie's Girl" singer, who played Dr. Noah Drake from 1981 to 1983 and 2005 to 2008, will appear in multiple episodes of the ABC daytime soap this April and will be joined by his son, Liam Springthorpe, People reports. Springthorpe will make his General Hospital debut as an undercover cop. Springfield and Springthorpe will not share any scenes together.

Springfield's return is part of the long-running soap's upcoming 50th anniversary. The rocker last appeared on the show in March 2012 and, as he explains to People, Dr. Drake has had his hands full in the year since. "He lost his wife and became a drunk and regretted all these terrible, sinful ways and then cleaned his act up when he almost died from the alcohol," Springfield told the magazine. "Now he disappears all the time, going to Doctors Without Borders and going around the world helping people. I guess he's gone from a drunk to being incredibly altruistic. I'm not nearly as altruistic as Noah Drake is."
Springfield is one of several fan favorites returning to General Hospital this year. Kin Shriner and Jack Wagner are reprising their roles, and John Stamos recently confirmed that he met with the show producers, but ultimately turned down the part written for him.
