One of the busiest men in Hollywood may be getting a lot busier.
Ryan Seacrest, whose current gigs include hosting E! News, American Idol and his own radio show, is nearing a new deal with NBCUniversal, The New York Times reports. Exact details about the contract haven't been confirmed, but the deal will likely include frequent Today appearances and a role in NBC's Olympics coverage.
The Biz: Ryan Seacrest could replace Matt Lauer on Today
Today executive producer Jim Bell hinted that the big announcement will be made on Tuesday, when Seacrest is set to appear on the morning show. "Tuesday morning live on the TODAY show in Studio 1A, Ryan Seacrest will make a big NBC announcement," he tweeted Sunday.
He continued, "Would @RyanSeacrest would have more fun doing the weather for Al or having a cocktail in the 10am with Kathie Lee? What is your drink Ryan?"
Reports have been circulating for months that Seacrest might replace Matt Lauer on Today when Lauer's contract expires in January 2013. (Lauer has reportedly been offered a multi-year, $25 million deal to stay.)
