The Walking Dead shattered its own ratings record — again.

Sunday's Season 2 finale attracted 9 million total viewers, making it the highest-rated episode in series history. The figure easily beat the then-record 8.1 million the show's midseason premiere drew last month and grew more than 50 percent from the Season 1 closer.

The episode also scored 6 million viewers in in the adults 18-to-49 demographic and 5.3 million viewers in the adults 25-to-54 demo — both up more than 50 percent from last season's finale as well.

Season 2 on the whole was up about 32 percent in all three measures.
