Ratings: Neil Patrick Harris' Tonys Gig Is a Winner

The Tony Awards

CBS' broadcast of the 63rd annual Tony Awards, hosted by How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris, averaged 7.45 million total viewers on Sunday. That represents a 19 percent bump from last year's show, and the most-watched Tonys since 2006.

The Tonys, combined with the Eye's coverage of this year's Grammys and the Academy of Country Music Awards, gave the network three consecutive awards shows to deliver year-over-year ratings growth.

CBS' Tony Awards telecast was bested only by ABC's coverage of the NBA finals, which averaged 10.26 mil from its 7 p.m. start (a Jimmy Kimmel special) to 11 p.m.
