Ratings: Survivor Premiere Improves; Grey's Hits Record Low

Survivor: Heroes and Villains

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains is off to a heroic start.

The hit CBS reality series' two-hour premiere averaged 14.1 million viewers, and improved 2 percent in the adults 18-to-49 demographic over last February's Survivor: Tocatins. The lead-in boosted The Mentalist, which pulled in 15.7 million viewers as CBS easily won the night.

ABC placed second, despite Grey's Anatomy (12.7 million viewers) posting its lowest 18-to-49 demo rating ever for an original episode. Facing a Bones repeat (8.1 million viewers), The Deep End improved slightly to 5.7 million viewers. ABC finished the night with 9.1 million viewers for Private Practice.

NBC's block of comedies was on par with their season averages. At 8/7c, Community drew 5.2 million viewers and Parks and Recreation pulled in 5 million viewers, while The Office (7.4 million viewers) performed slightly better than 30 Rock (6.1 million viewers) in the 9/8c hour. An hour of Office repeats averaged 2.8 million viewers in Jay Leno's recently exited timeslot.

Following the Bones repeat on Fox, Past Life sank to 5.3 million viewers.

The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural drew in 3.6 million viewers and 2.5 million viewers for the CW, respectively, though Diaries stumbled a bit in the demo.
